The second stage of the Silk Way Rally continued on its 11-day journey from Irkutsk in Siberia, to Dunhuang in northwest China. Last year's runner-up Nasser Al-Attiyah was off to a fast start, as the Qatari made it two-for-two in the cars category.

In the cars, Yazeed Al Rajhi and Eric Van Loon began well with lead at 50 km, but the Saudi Arabian suffered major engine problems at 106 km.

Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel continued their near faultless performance in the tournament to lead overall.

In the bikes, Sam Sunderland emerged victorious, and moved up to second overall, behind stage one winner Kevin Benavides.

In the trucks, Sergei Vyazovich and his co-driver Dmitry Sotniko won again. The third leg, from Ulan-Ude to Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar, is currently underway.
