China's first domestically-built polar research vessel and icebreaker, "Xuelong 2", came into official service on Thursday in east China's Shanghai. The vessel was delivered to the Polar Research Institute of China. It will further expand the scope of Chinese research in the South and North Poles and provide assistance to scientific data collection.
