An 11-meter-high tower built out of textbooks weighing 14 tons is on display at Art Zone in Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. Atop the tower is another structure, measuring 2.5 meters in height and made of open books to give the illusion that the tower is collapsing. The books were placed on 16-mm-thick steel plates and stuck together using glue. The idea is the brainchild of independent artist Zhao Haitao who wanted to show the downfall of paper books in the digital era.
