Chinese telecom company ZTE launched its Cybersecurity Lab Europe in Brussels on July 10, four months after a security center was built by another Chinese telecommunication giant, Huawei.

The purpose of setting up the Cybersecurity Lab is to provide security protection of high transparency for global customers, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders through validation and communication. ZTE is willing to play an important role in contributing to the cybersecurity with all parties, said Guan Zhonghong, ZTE's chief security officer.

Launching the measure in Brussels is significant because it is the seat for main European administration offices. Such a lab will provide a wider external security validation for ZTE's products, services and procedures, and promote cooperation between ZTE and stakeholders in the area of cybersecurity, according to ZTE officials.

The company has already launched two cybersecurity labs in Nanjing, east China, and Rome, Italy, in May. These labs will play a platform role by allowing customers and regulators to review its source code and documents, and conduct black-box and penetration testing.

ZTE plans to conduct further research in the area of cybersecurity with professional agencies.
