Chinese President Xi Jinping called for closer cooperation in international affairs between China and Vietnam during his talks with visiting Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Friday in Beijing.

Xi said China and Vietnam belong to a community with a shared future, adding that the two countries should push bilateral ties to a new level at the occasion of the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year. 

He called on the two countries to strengthen cooperation on jointly building the "Belt and Road" and the "Two Corridors, One Economic Circle," and co-build a comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation pattern. 

He also urged the two sides to safeguard peace and stability at sea with practical actions, to strengthen cooperation in international affairs and safeguard their common interests. 

The two countries' legislative bodies, the National People's Congress of China and the National Assembly of Vietnam, have had frequent exchanges and interactions in recent years, which opens up new ideas for the construction of their respective socialist democracy and legal system, Xi said. 

He told Ngan that he hopes the two sides will make more efforts to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples. 

Ngan said Vietnam has always appreciated the valuable support and help from China in the past and present. 

She said Vietnam is willing to work with China to continue to support each other in socialist development, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, manage differences effectively, and promote greater development of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
