Expert assesses China’s response to U.S. arms sale to Taiwan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has warned the U.S. not to play with fire when it comes to Asia. He made the remarks after Washington approved the sale of more than two billion U.S. dollars worth of weapons to Taiwan region and granted its leader Tsai Ing-wen a visa to visit the U.S. The foreign ministry announced in Beijing that the Chinese government will impose sanctions on U.S. enterprises involved in the arms sale. Teng Jianqun, director of the Center of Arms Control at the China Institute of International Studies sat down with CGTN and shared his insights on Wang Yi’s reaction, as well as why and how China will impose sanctions.
