China’s Xu Yifan and Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada on Friday ousted defending champions and second-seeded Czech pair Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in a stunning performance to reach their first-ever Grand Slam women's doubles final.

In the opening set, fourth-seeded Xu and Dabrowski got an early break and took a three-love lead, eventually going on to claim the frame 6-1. The defending champions, however, fought back in the second set. At 1-0, a strong Siniakova returned on break point on Xu’s serve forced an error from Dabrowski to give the Czech pair a crucial early lead. Siniakova then saved six break points in the process, leveling the match at one set apiece.

However, Xu and Dabrowski recomposed themselves to clinch the third 6-3.

They will face with Chinese Taipei’s Hsieh Su-wei and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova in the final.

Dabrowski has won two Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles, but this is a long-awaited moment for her and Xu in women’s doubles. The pair have been regular partners since the start of 2017. They were eliminated in the doubles semifinals last year at Wimbledon.
