The first urban forest park in Beijing's Central Business District (CBD) has officially opened to the public. Located in Chaoyang District, it covers an area of 18,000 square meters.

The site used to be a machine tool factory back in the old days. Now it has been transformed into a green space for city dwellers and tourists, adding more greenery to the city.

Home to 1,000 trees of various kinds and a one-kilometer-long loop trail for walking and jogging, the park follows the concept of "urban forest."

It provides a space for rest and recreation in the middle of high-rise buildings where many white-collar workers in nearby companies would take a stroll after lunch.

According to Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau, 13 urban forest parks will be constructed in nine districts of Beijing this year with a total construction area of 3.72 million square meters. They can serve to improve the city's environment, create noise barriers and increase biodiversity in the urban landscape.
