Fire extinguished after century-old hotel engulfed by blaze in central China's Wuhan

A fire which engulfed Wuhan's iconic Jianghan hotel on Sunday afternoon has been extinguished, the municipal fire department says.

The blaze started on the top floor of the five-story 109-year-old hotel, where an external wall was undergoing renovation work. 

Rescue work is still underway.

A century-old hotel was engulfed by a massive blaze at around 3:30 p.m. local time (08:30GMT) in central China's Wuhan City, Hubei Province. 

The hotel first opened in 1910 and was renovated in 1995. 

Firefighters have contained the fire, with no casualties reported so far. 

A further investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
