The "flavor of Chengdu" was celebrated in Naples, Italy on July 13 with the opening of the China·Chengdu Panda Café, a café featuring panda elements.

Many locals streamed into the café to get a taste of the unique Chengdu-flavored coffee. People dressed as baby pandas welcomed Italians into the eatery saying, "Today, we invite you to drink Panda coffee in Naples, and in 2021, you are welcome to Chengdu to drink Panda covered-bowl tea!"

The panda-themed shop is a part of a special invitation sent from Chengdu, China, the host city of the 31st Summer Universiade, an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation. Guests to the café were also treated to Chengdu-themed activities, including panda painting and calligraphy workshops.

People dressed in panda suits also staged flash mobs at many popular spots across Naples to highlight the upcoming international sporting event in Chengdu, the home of the iconic giant panda.

Countless invitation letters and 2,021 cups of limited-edition panda coffee conveyed the warmth and hospitality of the people of Chengdu toward the people of Italy.

Chengdu will take the baton from Naples when it hosts the 31st Summer Universiade in 2021. By succeeding Naples, Chengdu will become the 4th Chinese city to hold the Universiade. It will also be the first world international multi-sport event hosted by Chengdu since it set its sights on becoming a host for international games.
