China's Chen Yuxi won the gold medal of women's 10-meter platform diving on Wednesday with 439.00 points at the ongoing World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, putting the title back in China's pocket, six years after their last gold in the event.

Chen's teammate Lu Wei got the silver medal, and Delaney Schnell took the bronze, putting an end to the 14-year medal drought for the U.S.

Chen's victory helped China maintain nine for nine in all the diving finals the country's athletes participated in this week.

Chen fulfilled her goal of winning the title and surpassing 430.00 points in the final. "I just focused on how to do the best with every dive without thinking about other things like 'I need to control myself' or 'I cannot make mistake,'" the young gold medalist told CCTV.

Though Chinese athletes have been leading the world for such a long time, the competitions in women's 10m platform have been growing more and more fierce in recent years. Back in 2015 at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia, Kim Kuk Hyang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) became the biggest dark horse to grab the gold from China. Two years later, Cheong Jun Hoong of Malaysia gave China the second straight loss in Budapest, Hungary.

Chen and Lu, though both only 13 years old, carried the mission of winning back the lost title for their country in their first World Championships in Gwangju and they did it.

Chen established her lead from the beginning and kept it through all five rounds, including finishing 207C (back 3.5 somersault) almost perfect in her fourth jump, which got her 94.05 points.
