Situated in east China's Jiangsu Province, Dafeng National Nature Reserve for milu deer was inscribed as a World Heritage site in July 2019 at the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. The nature reserve has seen its number of milu deer increase from only 39 in 1986 to 5,016 today thanks to 33 years of painstaking efforts.
