The death toll from the gas plant explosion has risen to 10, while five others remain missing, according to the information office of Sanmenxia City, central China's Henan Province.
The blast also left 19 people critically injured, and several others with minor injuries.
Local authorities have dispatched 46 fire engines and 209 firefighters to the scene for search and rescue operations.
A team of medical experts from Beijing and Zhengzhou have also arrived in Sanmenxia to help medical treatment.

An explosion occurred at a gasification plant in Sanmenxia City in central China's Henan Province, around 17:45 BJT (0945 GMT) on Friday.
Two people are unaccounted for, local authorities said.
The blast shattered windows and doors of buildings in a three-kilometer radius.
The explosion did not occur in the gas tank areas, and all production has been stopped, according to the authorities.
The explosion caused multiple injuries and the injured were sent to the hospital, reported Xinhua citing its source.
The exact number of casualties remains unknown.
