The 3rd International Student Art Festival Prague opened in the Czech Republic on Friday with an exhibition of more than 70 pieces of art from school students from several countries, including the Czech Republic itself, China, Russia, Ukraine and Poland.

These students, aged 8-18, were categorized into three groups according to their age. During the four-day event, they will take part in the classes of art masters and outdoor painting. They will also visit the National Gallery and Prague Fine Arts High School and exchange with their counterparts.

"You don't need language to help communicate in the world of art," said Vojtech Filip, deputy speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, at the opening ceremony. "Hope these young artists could take the opportunity to exchange more and one day we could see their works exhibited in more prestigious galleries."

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Jianmin, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, also encouraged the students to be creative and always try to find beauty in life.

The events was jointly sponsored by the European Union of Arts, Czech-Chinese Culture and Arts Exchange Association, Czech-China Cooperation Center, and other two organizations. On next Monday, the judges - a team of famous Czech and Chinese artists - will judge the selection and give out awards including the Excellence Award.
