A large-scale Bronze Age settlement site has been discovered recently along the bank of a lake in Kazak Autonomous County of Barkol, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the first of its kind ever found in the region. The site was found during an archaeological survey conducted by Northwest University and Xinjiang Institute of Archaeology. The complex was a stone structure made of boulders and earth and consisting of many connected rooms. Experts said the ruins date back 3,300 years.
