Sitting at 3,700 meters above sea level, Basum Co is one of the largest among over 1,000 lakes in Tibet. The lake water manifests different colors with the change of seasons. The favorable natural conditions also make it a perfect sanctuary for migratory bird species.

About CGTN Nature

In the Southeastern Tibet Series, we focus on the magnificent southeastern Tibet. Unlike the common Tibet we know, the southeastern area has glaciers, lakes, snow mountains, meadows, forests and wetlands. The water vapor and heat from the Indian Ocean pass through canyons until they reach the inner part of Tibet, making the southeastern area a place of warmth and greenery. Tibetan rhesus macaque, black-necked cranes together with other incredible animals and plants are living harmoniously there.
