Have you ever seen POS terminals that spit out poems? Shanghai's Lujiazui subway station now has 15 that do just that. Put a one-yuan coin into one of the machines and you will receive a poem printed on credit card receipt paper. In fact, the "poets" are a special group of people.

"When my mom is out, the river caresses me, the sun shines upon me, the earth embraces me. My mom is just like the air, accompanying me everywhere."

This is a poem written by a 9-year-old girl named Hu Wanru.

The poems were are all created by Hu and her schoolmates. They are all some of China's left-behind children, whose parents moved to far-off cities in search of work. These left-behind children attend Longxiang primary school in Huaiyuan County, central China's Anhui Province.

Every poem is a key for peering into the minds of the children. "The talents of the children should be made visible to everyone, especially considering that their learning conditions are tough in the mountains," said a visitor.

"The inner voice from the left-behind children should be heard," China UnionPay said, explaining why the company had launched this public welfare project.

Besides, it's hoped the left-behind poets' talents can spread, and society becomes more aware of the difficulties of these children.

"All the donations will be used in seven primary schools in the Chinese provinces of Yunnan, Henan and Anhui, through the help of public service organizations," said Peng Cheng, the assistant general manager of China UnionPay's planning department. In the future, an online platform will offer art and literature courses for left-behind children from these regions.

If you see these special POS terminals, don't forget to collect some words from a special group of children.
