The WFDF 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (WU24) concluded with three thrilling gold medal matches on Saturday, July 20, at the Fritz Grunebaum Stadium in Heidelberg, Germany, after a week of action. 

The U.S. national teams swept gold by winning the mixed, women's and men's divisions. 

In the women’s division, the U.S. defeated Japan 15-9 in a steady win. In the men's division, the U.S. defeated Canada in a breathtakingly tight game, ending with a score of 15-12. For the last game of the final day, the U.S. defeated Japan 15-12 in the mixed division. 

For the second time in a row, the U.S. accomplished the impressive feat of winning all three divisions of the tournament.  

The tournament featured 1,150 athletes, representing 51 teams from 29 countries, including teams from China in the mixed and men's divisions. 

The WFDF 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships is a flagship Ultimate Frisbee tournament organized by the World Flying Disc Federation. The purpose of the tournament is to promote the sport among university and youth players. 

The competition this week was held in three divisions: mixed (21 teams), men's (18), and women's (12).  

This year's event represents the fifth edition of the World Under-24 Ultimate Championships. The last event was hosted in 2018 in Perth, Australia, and is usually held on a biannual basis. 

"This event was created to serve the age category after juniors. We have an under-20 championship as well. We felt that it was an important area that needed development in the university age category. A lot of players who play here will end up playing for their national teams at the World Championships," said WFDF Vice President Brian Gisel.

"We are very much looking forward to continuing our participation in that sport and bringing teams from around the world. Welcoming China as well to that competition. I am sure China will receive a bid as the host nation. With the growth of Ultimate in China, I am sure they will also push for the top of the podium as well," he added.
