With 92.5 percent of its area covered by mountainous area, Guizhou is the only province in China that does not have any flatlands. Thanks to the warm and humid climate as well as abundant rainwater, flourishing vegetation blankets the whole province with fresh green throughout most of the year.

Guizhou also boasts a large area of karst landform which covers about 62 percent of the province. Together with diverse flora and fauna resources, unique ecosystems are formed in various karst-based caves and stone forests, making Guizhou an attractive place for scientists and adventurers.
