The great bustard is a typical grassland bird species. They live in open spaces such as savanna and semi-desert regions. There are fewer than 800 great bustards around the world, and Tumuji, located in China's northeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is home to about 200 of them. Once the birds survive the long cold winter, they soon engage in another battle in early spring.
