The Beijing Zoo currently houses three kinds of snub-nosed monkeys: the gray snub-nosed monkey, the golden snub-nosed monkey and the black snub-nosed monkey. All of them are under first-class state protection in China.

The population of gray snub-nosed monkeys is believed to be less than giant pandas, which is also a species under protection.
