U.S. telecommunications companies are urging the Trump administration move faster on applications seeking exemptions to Huawei's blacklisting, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow said in a Fox News interview on Tuesday.

"Their only real ask was that as we've opened up the non-national security aspects of selling equipment to Huawei, that we can speed it up a little bit, that the Commerce Department will process applications so they can speed things up," said Kudlow.

Kudlow made the comments one day after executives from a number of top tech companies attended a meeting at the White House to discuss the issue of the administration's ban on Huawei, as well as the economy and trade relations with China.

At the meeting on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump assured executives of several big technology companies, including Google, Qualcomm and Cisco, that his administration would make "timely" decisions about whether to allow American firms to continue selling products to Huawei, according to a White House statement.

The meeting came as tech companies, including semiconductor firms, continue to push the administration to follow through with Trump's promise to ease restrictions on selling chips and other technology to Huawei, CNBC reported.

The industry reportedly has been lobbying the administration to allow a resumption of sales to Huawei since a trade ban was imposed on the company this year over so-called national security concerns.
