On Thursday, Beijing denounced one U.S. senator's irresponsible allegations towards Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), when the long-time anti-China official made random accusations regarding the recent riots, that came after the introduction of a now-suspended fugitive bill.

Marco Rubio, senior U.S. senator from the country's southern Florida state, has made remarks including that the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been utilizing "criminals and gangsters" to attack Hong Kong protesters, and that China has violated its commitments made during Hong Kong's return to China.

Such allegations are groundless, said spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of  the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR. "Rubio's lies have shown his despicable mindset. That is, to stir up troubles between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong."

Many American politicians share ridiculous "double standards" towards their own country and other countries, the spokesman pointed out. "The violent acts are only violent when they take place in their own country, but human rights and freedom problems when they happen in other nations."

The spokesperson also said that since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the central government has unswervingly adhered to the principle of "One Country, Two Systems", "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong" and a high degree of autonomy in the SAR.

The central government administers in accordance with the Constitution and the Basic Law, and is the guardian of "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law, the spokesperson added.

"Hong Kong has maintained prosperity and stability after its return. Hong Kong people enjoy unprecedented broad rights and freedoms in accordance with the law. These ironclad facts cannot be discredited by people like Rubio."

The spokesman stressed that Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong and that Hong Kong's affairs are purely China's internal affairs.

"We will never allow any country, organization or individual to interfere in Hong Kong's affairs and China's internal affairs, nor will we sit idly and look on as national sovereignty, security and the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong are being harmed."
