Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be visiting Bangkok from July 30 to August 3 for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, said foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying on Thursday.

He will also pay an official visit to Thailand.

The minister will attend a series of meetings including the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), said the spokesperson.

Noting that Thailand holds the ASEAN rotating chair this year, Wang looks forward to having in-depth discussions with the Thai leaders on China-ASEAN relations and East Asian cooperation, said Hua.

When asked to comment on China-ASEAN relations, the spokesperson said China has always put ASEAN high on its agenda of diplomacy with neighboring countries, and ASEAN is a priority region for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

China looks forward to working with relevant parties to build consensus on multilateralism, pursuing regional cooperation in East Asia at a higher level, said the spokesperson.
