“Champion”, the official FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 anthem jointly created by Jason Derulo and Tia Raywas released Wednesday.
The song performed by the global multi-platinum recording artist Jason Derulo, and Chinese soul queen Tia Ray was highly anticipated.
The star-studded FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Draw was presented by Wanda featuring Jason Derulo and the basketball icon Kobe Bryant on March 16 in Shenzhen, China. This is the first time China hosts the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The world's top players from the 32 best national teams will battle it out in eight Chinese cities from August 31 through September 15 to be crowned FIBA Basketball World Cup Champions. To celebrate this unique occasion, FIBA brought together two world class artists to create the first official anthem.
"As the count down to the FIBA Basketball World Cup gets even closer, we're excited to have two world famous artists be part of this historic event. Thanks to this song, fans from all over the world will be united in celebration for the World Cup from now until the final in Beijing,” said FIBA Secretary Genera Andreas Zagklis.
Tia Ray (Yuan Yawei), is rated as one of the most influential singers in China by the International Federation of the Phonographic industry (IFPI). Her hit song “Be Apart” topped all charts and set a record of 1.8 billion clicks, resonated with many people. Ray’s songs have been streamed over 4 billion times globally.
