China and the Philippines have reached consensus on three major directions at the recent 22nd Diplomatic Consultation, Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Friday.

The two countries agreed to sustain the good-neighborliness and friendship, maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and adhere to the direction of cooperation and development in the region, Hua said.

The 22nd China-Philippines diplomatic consultation was held in Manila on July 23, which was co-chaired by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo of the Philippines.

This is the first consultation since the establishment of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative relations in 2018.

Both sides reviewed the positive progress made in China-Philippines relations, and noted that the previous meetings between the two heads of state have charted the course for the further development of bilateral ties.

China and the Philippines need to implement a high-level of consensuses, continuously enhance political mutual trust, and keep deepening the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Build, Build, Build" program.

By doing so, both sides will able to enhance mutual collaborations and push China-Philippines relations to new highs, according to China's Foreign Ministry's statement.
