Indian authorities are investigating why there were no girls born across dozens of villages in the country's northern district in the last three months.
Data reported by the Indian news agency ANI shows that of the 216 newborns in 132 villages across the Uttarkashi district, in India's Uttarakhand State, none were girls.
There are fears that sex-selective abortions may be the reason for no girls being born in the villages, though India outlawed the selective abortion of female fetuses in 1994.
