Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro met Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday and said he looks forward to visiting China in October.

Bolsonaro said he welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Brazil and attend the BRICS summit there in November.

Brazil wants to become China's "sincere friend" and is willing to conduct all around cooperation with China, he added.

Wang said there is no historical conflict or interests dispute between the two countries, but only broad cooperative prospects. China and Brazil can achieve common development and prosperity.

The two sides should not only explore cooperation in traditional areas such as agriculture, gas and infrastructure construction, but also new fields such as technical innovation and digital economy, said Wang.

China hails Brazil's strong interests in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), vowing to hold in-depth talks with Brazil on the BRI and strengthen trade cooperation in various areas, said Wang. The remarks follow the third China-Brazil Foreign Ministers' Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue with Brazilian counterpart Ernesto Araújo in Brasilia, Brazil on Thursday.

Apart from trade, the two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in the multilateral mechanism headed by the UN, and work jointly to safeguard multilateralism, international order and the international trade system.

In the meeting, Wang spoke highly of China's relations with Brazil, as it is the first developing country to build comprehensive strategic partnership with China and the first Latin American country whose trade volume with China has reached 100 billion U.S. dollars, China-Brazil relations is highly strategic, according to Wang.

Noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, Wang expected both sides would take this opportunity to upgrade relations to a new level. China seeks to build the relationship as a model of cooperation between emerging economies and an important power facilitating world peace and development.

Araújo echoed Wang's remarks, saying that Brazil regards China as a comprehensive strategic partner that is trustworthy, stable and reliable, and stands ready to discuss potential cooperation under the framework of the BRI.

As the BRICS leaders' summit will be held in Brazil in November, Araújo looked forward to China's participation in the summit.
