China's Giant Panda National Park has helped boost the global population of giant pandas.

The 27,000-square-kilometer Dujiangyan Panda Base. is a paradise for breeding giant panda cubs. It witnesses the birth of 10-20 giant panda cubs a year.

By the end of 2018, there were more than 450 captive pandas in Sichuan, and more than 1,300 pandas in the wild.

A giant panda weighs only about 150 grams at birth, a weight of three eggs. Therefore, survival is very difficult for them.

The breeding center has been working on artificial breeding to help the pandas survive.

The center has set up a state-level key laboratory to study artificial breeding, disease control and prevention and other issues regarding giant pandas.

The wild giant pandas in Sichuan account for about 70 percent of the total in China. Those giant pandas all basically live around the Minjiang River. Apart from geological advantage, Sichuan has been actively promoting the construction of ecology and environment in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

China started building giant panda nature reserves in 1963. Sichuan Province has built 46 reserves, covering the main habitats of giant pandas.

Besides, Sichuan has made progress in natural forest protection and soil erosion control. The province is continuing afforestation efforts, vegetation restoration above railways, roads and tunnels, and transforming artificial forests.
