Each of the 10 episodes in the 4K documentary is 50 minutes long.

Over 230 botanists and experts were involved in the production. Over 130 photographers filmed in 27 Chinese provinces and seven foreign countries including the US, India and Madagascar for the documentary. The director hopes the series is just the beginning.

"I hope Chinese people will begin to learn about plants through the documentary. That they will understand how thousands of plants have evolved and how our civilization has come about," said Li Chengcai, the director.
