"We call on people from all walks of life in Hong Kong to unequivocally oppose and resist violence," according to Yang Guang, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council. He made the remarks regarding the ongoing protests in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) at a press conference held in Beijing on July 29 .
