China has said that the United States owes the world an explanation over its role in the violent protests in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said it welcomes the U.S. to make a promise of no interference in Hong Kong affairs. The spokesperson urged the press to report on the protests in a balanced way, adding that violence and voicing opinions peacefully are two different things and media should not turn a blind eye to the violent acts of the protesters.
