China and Thailand have agreed to promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework to achieve more progress, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Both China and Thailand should work together to maintain friendship and enhance cooperation to achieve more progress, Wang stressed, adding that the two countries will lead BRI development in terms of high-quality progress and create a model for other BRI countries, he added.
China supports Thailand's efforts to host this year's ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, during which China and ASEAN countries recognized mutual cooperation and benefits, achieved great results and reached important consensus, Wang said.
He also noted that China and ASEAN countries are close friends and comprehensive partners, and that occasional disputes and problems will not affect the China-ASEAN relations in whole.
For his part, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said that Thailand has agreed to extend regional connectivity not only with China but also with other ASEAN members.
Wang also met with his Singaporean, Lao and British counterparts in Bangkok on Wednesday.
During his meeting with Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Wang said China is willing to deepen BRI cooperation with Singapore and continue to make joint efforts with ASEAN members to support free trade and build an open world economy.
Balakrishnan stressed that Singapore firmly adheres to the one-China policy and that it is willing to continue to play a positive and constructive role to promote the development of China-ASEAN relations.
During meeting with his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith, Wang said the two sides should boost communications on governing experiences and strengthen mutual support within multilateral frameworks, so as to push forward bilateral cooperation to yield more fruitful results.

Saleumxay expressed gratitude for China's support in his country's economic development and said that Laos is willing to expand cooperation with China in all fields.
During his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Wang said it suits both countries' interests to push forward the "Golden Era" of bilateral ties and he hopes that the UK can properly handle sensitive issues in bilateral relationship.

Wang added that he hopes the UK can treat Chinese enterprises fairly and without discrimination.
Raab said bilateral ties now face both opportunity and challenges and the two sides should strengthen high-level exchanges and boost bilateral and multilateral cooperation to cope with global challenges.
