August 1 marks Army Day in China and a variety of activities took place across the country to show respect and well wishes for the heroes who have fought for China. The torch relay for the 7th Military World Games began in south China's Nanchang City on Thursday. It will continue across the country for the next 10 weeks before being lit in the host city of Wuhan when the Games officially open in October. Zhang Ye, a research fellow at the People's Liberation Army's Naval Research Institute, discussed the reasons behind the selection of Wuhan and Nanchang to host these events.
