In 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward "five methods of poverty alleviation," namely developing poor people's own productivity, helping poor people relocate to better places, eco-compensation payments to preserve ecology, education and training, and social security payments to those who cannot work. The overall vision is simple: first, identify the reasons that cause impoverishment then tailor a series of targeted measures for each poor family to bring them out of poverty. But what kind of color can we add to analyzing each method? Liu Yongfu, director of State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, weighs in on the issue with CGTN's Robert Lawrence Kuhn.
