Begging for Skills Festival, or Daughters Festival, is a custom related to a Qixi Festival which is the Chinese equivalent of Valentine's Day. Young ladies pray for wisdom, skills and a good husband in the future by showcasing dexterity in sewing which symbolizes the traditional talents associated with being a good spouse. The Begging for Skills Festival is especially important in China's Xihe County, Gansu Province, and has been recognised as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
