The first "Beautiful Homeland" New Zealand Handicraft Painting Charity Exhibition was held in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday, featuring unique Chinese aesthetic art.

About 100 artistic works designed by about 30 Chinese artists are on display at the NZ Multicultural Exchange and Experience Centre. Some of them are experienced artists who live in New Zealand for a long time, the rest are international students who originally came from China, according to organizers.

Cecilia Zhang, the manager of New Zealand Student Newspaper and the organizer of the exhibition, said "The exhibition enriched the cultural elements of the 2019 China-New Zealand Year of Tourism, promoted cultural exchanges between China and New Zealand.

"The exhibition is not only fully in line with the needs of Chinese and New Zealand cultural exchanges, but also deliver significant social goodwill."

The event, which attracted more than 100 visitors, carried out a charity sale, the income from which was donated to the New Zealand Independent Living Charity for helping vulnerable groups in the country.

New Zealand Member of Parliament Dr Yang Jian highlighted the importance of charity. "There are lots of ways to reflect the progress of a society, one of the significant ways is through supporting the groups who need help," Yang said.

"Well done to everyone who has been part of this event," said another MP Simeon Brown. "Thanks for the contributions that have been made by the Chinese charity, which has helped many New Zealanders."
