An impoverished county in Zhangjiakou City, north China's Hebei Province, has found a new way of getting rid of poverty by developing ecological tourism. Kangbao County is one of the ten impoverished countries in Hebei. But in recent year, the county has found a new way to boost its economy by developing local resources, such as buckwheat flowers. According to a deputy county mayor of Kangbao, since the beginning of 2019, the county has received more than 200,000 tourists, and that number is expected to reach 300,000 by the year-end, bringing a tourism revenue of over 200 million yuan (about 28.8 million U.S. dollars).
