A wild elephant wandered to a county town in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan Province, catching the attention of the locals on Sunday. The wild elephant was first spotted near Mengla Farm on Friday. On Sunday morning, it made a temporary visit to the urban areas. To ensure the safety of both the residents and the elephant, the local authorities immediately arranged a clearing of the area and closing relevant roads. Drones were also used to track and monitor the elephant, which was still wandering around nearby as of Monday noon. The police staff have been keeping close track of its whereabouts. So far, no clash between the elephant and humans has been reported.
