In the Namib Desert, a Namaqua chameleon snatches a fly from out of the air in the blink of an eye. The chameleon was around 25 centimeters long, but its tongue would have been about 15 to 20 centimeters.
The Namaqua chameleon is one of the biggest chameleon species in southern Africa. Living in deserts, they are usually some shades of grey or brown with several lighter patches on the flank. They can control their body temperature by changing colors, absorbing heat when they're coloring is black and reflecting light when turning grey.
