The small open green spaces along city streets, commercial blocks or residential complexes are part of an effort to create more green spaces in the metropolis.
The city had 91 such parks at the end of last year, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.

Shanghai is one of the most populated cities in China. Statistics show by the end of 2018, the city had over 24 million people.
Its pocket park plan aims at expanding the city's forest coverage to 18 percent by 2020, and the average per capita park greenery space to 8.5 square meters.
