In southern India, fishermen are on the hunt for abandoned fishing nylon nets. The nets left floating around the India Ocean pose serious environmental risks. Fishermen are collecting discarded nets and turning them into plastic granules for producing eco-surfboards. According to the United Nations, some eight million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the ocean every year, killing marine life and entering the human food chain.
