SW China airport 'in the clouds' ready for operation

Chongqing Wushan airport in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has met industry standards and is expected to begin operation in mid-August.

Nicknamed airport "in the clouds", the Chongqing Wushan Airport is located at an elevation of more than 1,770 meters and sits about 15 km away from Chongqing's Wushan County. It is the highest airport in Chongqing, constructed with a budget of 1.64 billion yuan (226.5 million U.S. dollars).

The airport has a terminal building with a floor area of 3,500 square meters and a 2,600-meter-long runway. Construction began in 2015, and finished last month.
