The 2nd China National Youth Games opens in North China

The second China National Youth Games kicked off Thursday night in the capital city of Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province. A grand opening ceremony was put on in the Hong Deng Long, or Red Lantern, sports stadium. With a theme of pursuing dreams in the new era, more than 4,300 performers took part in the show. Over 12,000 young athletes from across the country will compete for 1,868 gold medals during the ten-day event. The athletes' age is all under 19 as required.
