Victor Gao Zhikai, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization, said that although the western side keeps saying that the massive movement in Kong Kong doesn't have a single leader and it‘s spontaneous, a closer look makes it obvious that there is a big money flow into Hong Kong to support the protests. The goal is to go against the HKSAR government, the “One Country, Two Systems” principle and the Basic Law. Lawrence Ma, barrister and chairman of the Hong Kong Legal Exchange Foundation, stated that besides the U.S. intervention, there is evidence that Taiwan authorities can also be interfering. According to Ma, there are 600 million Hong Kong dollars from Taiwan being used to financially support the rioters.
