Diving into the story behind the human-elephant conflict in China

There are about 300 wild elephants in China, which mainly live in Xishuangbanna Prefecture, in southwest China's Yunnan Province. China adopted a strict law to protect wild elephants. From 1975 to 2019, the number of wild elephants in China doubled.

However, there has been increased tension between humans and elephants. Over the course of time, human and elephant habitats have overlapped, resulting in damages to property and injuries to people.
