A total of 161 people have been killed and 137 others injured across Pakistan since July, as the monsoon season wreaks havoc across parts of the country. Torrential rains caused flooding in Karachi over the weekend, trapping people inside their homes, and disrupting road and railway travel. The fatalities were mostly caused by collapsed buildings and electrocution.
