Hit show 'Friends' to hit big screen for 25th anniversary

It is great news for fans of "Friends"! In order to mark the 25th anniversary of the popular U.S. sitcom, several classic episodes will hit the big screens.

According to the press release, Warner Bros. is partnering with Fathom Events for "Friends 25th: The One With the Anniversary". A total of 12 episodes will hit more than 1,000 big screens in three days, over the course of September 23, 28 and October 2.

All of the episodes are being screened in 4K, along with exclusive interviews and unreleased footage.

The tickets for the special screening will open to the public on August 16. 

The news has fans in China excited as well. 

"Friends" was among the earliest U.S. TV series to be widely watched by Chinese audiences. Many of them are familiar with the six protagonists of Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey, Ross and Rachel. The country's netizens occasionally quote plots, scenes and lines from the show.

There are even Friends-themed coffee houses in Chinese cities.

The 236-episode comedy will leave Netflix to join the new streaming service "HBO Max" in early 2020.

Netflix reportedly paid 100 million U.S. dollars to extend the streaming rights every year for the sitcom.
