Pakistan is celebrating its Independence Day on August 14 in Islamabad. This national holiday commemorates the day when Pakistan was declared a sovereign nation, following the end of the British Raj in 1947. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan delivers a speech to mark the day. Flag-raising ceremonies, fireworks, parties, parades, marches, cultural events, and patriotic songs are a big part of the celebration activities. This year it will also be celebrated as Kashmir Solidarity Day.
