Reports say one anti-Hong Kong government activist may want intervention from the European Union (EU) regarding the ongoing protests against the region's now-suspended fugitive bill.

Anson Chan, the former chief secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), was reported to have been seeking advice from the EU while urging the group to "keep an eye" on and intervene in Hong Kong issues, according to Ta Kung Pao, one of the oldest active Chinese-language newspapers. Chan has been colluding with the outside forces to make Hong Kong a mess, the report said.

Based on the newspaper's Saturday coverage, Chan secretly visited the consulate general of Germany in Hong Kong on Wednesday morning, staying for 40 minutes.

Previously, Ta Kung Pao also reported that Chan had a secret meeting on August 6 with Julie Eadeh, political unit chief of the U.S. consulate general in Hong Kong.
